2026-04-17 — the bagel
i was in line at a deli. {{TARGET}} was behind the counter. they handed me a bagel. it was plain. of course it was. i woke up sweating.
2026-04-11 — the bus
i was on a bus. so was {{TARGET}}. they were sitting one seat too close. the bus had 400 empty seats. WHY.
2026-03-30 — the door
{{TARGET}} was holding a door for me. but they were holding it slightly wrong. like 80% of the way. so i had to awkwardly reach for it. a masterclass in passive aggression. even in dreams.
2026-02-14 — valentine's day
i received a valentine from {{TARGET}}. it was addressed wrong. my name was misspelled. there was no message inside. just a single "lol" written in pencil. i woke up furious.
2026-01-01 — new year
{{TARGET}} and i watched the ball drop. together. by mutual obligation. at the stroke of midnight they turned to me and said "well, that's that." i do not know what this means. i have been thinking about it for four months.
note: my therapist has suggested we "examine" these. i have declined.
